Jerry Burgess graduated from Wichita State University prior to entering public accounting practice with Coopers and Lybrand in Kansas City, MO.  Feeling a call to full time ministry activities, he subsequently left the public accounting profession and attended The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, MO.  He is an ordained minister, as well as a Certified Public Accountant.

While attending seminary, he was invited to join the staff of the Assemblies of God National headquarters in Springfield, MO.  He served that organization for 20 years.  He served most of those years as the Finance Director for Foreign Missions.  In that role, he worked extensively with administration, donors, regulatory agencies, and individual missionaries to develop and implement finance and compensation related policies and procedures.  He later moved to the position of Corporate Accounting Manager for the organization.  He also served the fellowship as a part time accounting instructor at Evangel University.

He currently serves as a Missionary Compensation Consultant for Organization Resources Counselors of New York City.  ORC has a long history with the missionary community and currently serves a substantial number of missionary organizations.    In his capacity with ORC, he has assisted many missionary organizations in the revision and/or development of finance and compensation policies.  He works out of his office in Springfield, MO.  His professional involvements have included presentations at numerous missionary finance related seminars and workshops and he currently serves on the steering committee for the EFMA Tax/Finance Seminar.

He has always placed great emphasis on the local church, serving in numerous capacities.  That pursuit currently involves a leadership role in adult Christian education and discipleship.  He enjoys fishing, camping, and water sports.
