Senior Associates - Human Resources
KATIE J. BURGESS
Katie Burgess has been involved in various areas of ministry most her life. For
23 years she worked in Human Resources for the national headquarters of the
General Council of the Assemblies of God. During those years
she served as the Human Resource director’s assistant, employment coordinator,
and human resources manager. During those years she also served on
the Ozark Chamber of Commerce Professional Development Committee. In
1994 she completed the Human Resources Professional Certification program
with the National Society for Human Resources. She left her position
with the General Council in December 2001 to travel with her husband and
be involved in his ministry and work.
While assisting her husband, Jerry, in the area of compensation and finance consulting for mission agencies, it became apparent that Katie had much to offer in the area of Human Resources for these agencies. She was asked by EFMA to assume the role of senior associate for Human Resources for EFMA member agencies. She accepted that role and has been active in doing reviews and research for member and nonmember agencies since 2002.
Prior to working at the General Council, she worked as a staff assistant for 10 years in International Sales at Beech Aircraft Corporation in Wichita, Kansas. During those years she worked with professional and executive level people from many countries around the world. This experience confirmed in her heart the need for cross-cultural witness.
From there she served as the pastor’s secretary for 3 years at a local church in Kansas City. Through the years she has also been involved in the church choir and teaching Sunday school. She served as coordinator for the elementary age girls program and for women’s groups. She chaired the Missions Committee of her home church for 5 years.
Currently Katie and Jerry reside in Springfield, Missouri, and are active members of their local church. Until their recent travel schedule made it impractical, Jerry and Katie taught adult Sunday School and led a small home group. Katie also served on her church board of deacons.
